The History of the BBQ Bonanza: A Growing Tradition of Giving
What started as a small, one-day event in 2019 has grown into one of Huntingdon County’s most anticipated annual traditions. Founded by Alan & Heather Boyer, the BBQ Bonanza was created to bring the community together for great food, fun, and a meaningful cause—raising funds for Huntingdon County United Way and Huntingdon County PRIDE (now RAISEtown Care Connect).
That first year, just six BBQ vendors joined the fun and helped raise $8,000. Since then, the Bonanza has grown into a two-day celebration featuring dozens of vendors, a massive crowd of supporters, and $88,000+ donated back into the community!
In 2021, JCY Fundraising officially became a 501(c)(3) organization, further solidifying its commitment to supporting local nonprofits.
The event’s momentum continues to build:
2023 raised $44,876.80
2024 saw a record-breaking $54,409.59
Thanks to the incredible support of sponsors, competitors, and community members, the BBQ Bonanza continues to grow—delivering delicious food, unforgettable entertainment, and life-changing impact year after year.
